Computers and technology

School IT Facilities

There are a range of Information Technology (IT) facilities at Pacific Pines State High School. These facilities are designed to meet the needs of curriculum and to assist students in developing skills required for the future.

The school IT facilities include:

  • 36 computers in the Resource Centre
  • 4 computer labs of 28 PCs
  • 6 classrooms with 8 dedicated laptops
  • 19 mobile trolleys with 16 laptops
  • 400 laptops for students in years 10-12 for use with the take home program (see links below for details)

BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)

In 2018 it is an expectation that the parents of year 7 - 11 students will provide their child with a suitable device to participate in class eLearning activities and to ensure that they are fully able to engage and develop essential skills in the technology rich society we now have.

2018 The BYOD Program Information Booklet has been developed as a guide for parents and students throughout their BYOD journey at Pacific Pines State High School.

Take Home Program

Pacific Pines SHS will again be offering a school laptop take-home program in 2017, using devices supplied under the Federal Government NSSCF program. The fee for participation in the 2017 school year is $150 for the entire year.

Microsoft Office for Students

Education Queensland has negotiated with Microsoft to allow students to download the Microsoft Office 2013 suite of products for FREE. Details are provided in the document below.

Instructions to help install this software are available from the learning place for both PC​ and MAC.

IT Support

The school IT Technicians are now located in AR05.

The IT Technicians are able to assist students with issues involving hardware and software on school laptops and also with issues relating to accessing school computers.

IT Support are able to assist students with IT related issues at the following times:
