Junior Secondary Phase
Junior Secondary at Pacific Pines State High School focuses on the learner as the whole student.
Every lesson, every day, teachers and staff ensure that students are nurtured and provided with the tools to become lifelong learners through quality teaching. Teachers actively engage Junior Secondary students in learning that is relevant, authentic and challenging. Students develop a sense of belonging and connectedness to their school, peers and teachers.
Students, parents and the school are partners in preparing students for tomorrow’s challenges.
Transitioning to Year 7
Year 7 Subjects
In year 7, all students will be studying Mathematics, English, Science, Study of Society and Environment (SOSE), Health and Physical Education and Languages Other Than English (LOTE).
Students will study four semester long subjects across the year. These include Technology, Arts Subjects, Japanese and Health and Physical Education.
Year 7 Core Subjects
Mathematics, English, Science, Humanities (Civics and Citizenship, Geography and History), Health and Physical Education, Japanese.
Year 7 Electives
Creative Arts and Technology electives.
Year 8 Subjects
In year 8, all students will be studying Mathematics, English, Science, Study of Society and Environment (SOSE), Health and Physical Education and Languages Other Than English (LOTE).
Students will study three elective subjects for a semester each, at least one from the Arts and one from Technology. An acceptance into an excellence program may replace some of the elective subjects.
